Buttery, Salty, Savory, or Sweet: Popcorn Is Always the Perfect Snack

Here are some recipes that require everyone’s favorite treat: popcorn. Keep these in mind the next time you get a craving for popcorn.

Popcorn Balls

5 quarts popcorn, popped
2 cups sugar
1-1/2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Keep popped corn hot in a 300 degree oven. Butter the sides of a saucepan. In the saucepan, combine sugar, water, salt, corn syrup, and vinegar. Cook to 250 degrees (use a candy thermometer). Add the vanilla. Pour slowly over the popcorn, mixing until completely coated. With buttered hands, press into balls. Makes eight balls.

Peanut Butter Popcorn Balls

8 cups popped corn
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
butter or margarine

Combine corn syrup and sugar in a saucepan. Stir constantly over medium heat while bringing to a boil. Remove from heat and add peanut butter. Pour over popped corn and stir until completely coated. With buttered hands, press into balls. Makes about 12 balls.

Marshmallow Popcorn Balls

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
10 ounce package marshmallows
6 cups popped popcorn

Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add popcorn and stir until well coated. With buttered hands, form into balls and place on buttered cookie sheet to harden.
